Donate in Memory of a Pet Who Mattered
A tribute gift keeps their name alive in the best way there is — as food in a bowl and care for an animal who has no one else. Give in memory of a pet, or in honour of someone you love.
Some love doesn't leave when they do
The house is quieter now. The lead by the door, the spot on the sofa that was only ever theirs — you still notice them.
When you donate in memory of a pet, that quiet gets to do something. You take the love you carry for one animal and hand it to another who is still here, still hungry, still waiting to be seen.
At KAW’s sanctuary in Kapashera, on the edge of Delhi, that gift becomes real within a day. A rescued dog eats. A wound gets cleaned. And somewhere in our records, your pet’s name — or your grandmother’s, or a friend’s — sits beside that act of care.
You don’t need the right words for grief. You just need a name to give in.
How a tribute gift works
01
You give in their name. Make a donation and tell us who it honours — a pet you’ve lost, a parent, a friend, or someone whose birthday you’d rather mark with kindness than a card.
02
We acknowledge it. You’ll get a receipt and a note confirming the gift was made in that name. If it’s a memorial or a gift for someone else, we can send the family a simple message or card letting them know an animal was helped in their loved one’s memory. You choose whether they hear from us or not.
03
The gift goes to work. Your contribution funds meals and treatment at the sanctuary, logged against the name you gave. Nothing sits idle.

What your tribute pays for
This isn’t an abstract fund. It’s a real place with real animals who eat every single day whether donations come in or not.
A memorial gift might cover a week of meals for a dog recovering from surgery. It might help pay for the antibiotics, the bandages, the vet’s time. It might feed one of the street dogs our teams reach on their daily rounds — animals who never make it indoors but still count on us showing up.
Give enough and you can sponsor a meal outright, or become a virtual parent to a resident dog who carries your tribute forward month after month. Small or large, the gift lands the same way: as care for an animal who needed it and got it because you remembered someone.
Occasions to give in someone's name People come to a memorial gift for all kinds of reasons. A few we see often:
- In memory of a pet — the dog or cat who shared your years and left a hole nothing else fills.
- In memory of a person — a parent, partner, or friend who loved animals, or simply someone you miss.
- A birthday or anniversary — mark the day of someone living, or the adoption anniversary of a pet, by helping animals in their honour.
- In honour of a recovery, a milestone, a thank-you — any moment that deserves more than a gift card.
There's no wrong occasion. If a name means something to you, it's reason enough to donate in honour of them.
