Not every illness leaves visible signs. Many rescued dogs arrive weak, tired, or simply “not themselves,” while silently battling infections, organ damage, tick-borne diseases, or other serious conditions.
A blood test helps our veterinarians understand what’s happening inside, so every dog receives the right treatment at the right time.
Every rescue has a story—but not every illness is visible.
At Kannan Animal Welfare (KAW), blood tests are often the first step towards saving a life. They help us detect hidden infections, anaemia, liver and kidney issues, tick fever, and other conditions that cannot be diagnosed through physical examination alone.
The sooner we know what’s wrong, the sooner we can begin treatment.
With your support, every rescued dog gets the chance to heal—not through guesswork, but through the right diagnosis.
Penny’s Story
Penny was rescued in a very weak condition with a severe maggot-infested wound on his head. Blood tests helped identify the underlying health issues, and he received the treatment he needed.
Today, Penny is healthy, playful, and full of life again.
Pappy’s Story
Pappy is an elderly dog who was rescued in a weak and injured condition. Her blood tests revealed increased liver and kidney values, and she was started on specialized medication and treatment. With proper care and timely treatment, Pappy made a wonderful recovery and is now doing much better.
Many life-threatening illnesses cannot be seen with the naked eye. A simple blood test helps detect hidden diseases early, allowing rescued dogs to receive faster, more accurate treatment when every moment matters.
