When Giro was rescued, he was suffering from a large, maggot-infested wound on his face. The infection had already progressed significantly, leaving him in severe pain and discomfort.
Our veterinary team immediately began emergency treatment by cleaning the wound, removing the maggots, and starting medication to control the infection and relieve his pain. However, his journey to recovery has only just begun.
Over the coming days, Giro will require repeated wound dressings, antibiotics, pain management, supportive care, and constant veterinary supervision to ensure the infection heals completely and no further complications develop.
